Darn it, we're keeping her!

The heck with foster... She's hopped her way into my heart. And Matt's too. He's dubbed her Better Bun. Cute as that is, we need a real name for her. I like Abigail but he wants something different. Here are two more videos of her in action to assist you.
She's very active & curious, but laid-back. She's been great with the cats and even during the brief caged intro to Blackberry (other bunny). She uses her litterbox perfectly (thank you thank you thank you). She looks fake, as most Angoras do. The way her ears rotate and snap into position, particularly, makes us think of an animated remote-control rabbit (this led to the suggestion of Rachel, after the gyndroid in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, in which people keep robotic pets. It was made into the movie Blade Runner).

We have a sort of accidental "fruit salad" theme going with Blackberry, Peachy, and Fig. Our cars are named for Wallace & Gromit characters.

Right now she's horribly matted - her mouth was actually felted partially closed, which may explain why she's a bit underweight. After a few trimming attempts we've decided to take her to the vet for a thorough shaving & checkup (worms, teeth, etc).

The person who comes up with her name will get some delish yarn from my stash. I'll accommodate your tastes in fiber and color as best I can. You might even get some of my handspun. I'm working on a varigated gray angora/silk/merino blend from DragonFibers right now, which is quite appropriate! Non-knitters, I'll make something for you. :)

Yes, Matt said "She tasted my arm." They were little licky bunny kisses.

I call all bunnies BunBun. I even call angora yarn bunbun most of the time. It's a personal favorite. Plus I just love saying it.

I also like the name Madison, or Maddie for short.

I vote for Clover. Since you already have a Watership Down rabbit in Blackberry. And according to Wikipedia - Clover – A strong and active Angora doe, who mates with Holly and provides the Watership Down warren with its first litter.

I'ts been a while since I read the book. I didn't remember that she was an Angora.

Hmmm.... fruit salad. Nothing gray in fruit salad (hopefully) but I do put Marshmallows in mine. And she'll get VERY fluffy.

You sly thing...adopting a pet you can later spin!

    How about
    Kiwi or Gooseberry
    (the Furry Fruit)?...:
"...I suppose that it would be an easy assumption to make to presume that this is a native fruit of New Zealand, but in fact it has its origins in Eastern Asia, and it was originally known as a Chinese Gooseberry.

Aw, your bun is beautiful and I would love to save her but our cats would eat her and she would chew our mass of cables.

The white strip gave me 3 ideas, but only one fits your theme.

First is Ms. Shruggs, as it looks like she's wearing a shrug. The second is Ribbon.

Third, Cream, after the rabbit in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. A little cream over a fuit salad can be nice topping.

Ok Bunny names I have three bunz right now they all came with their names. but I'm in a Celtic groove right now so if I was naming a new bunny she would be Cali short for Caledonia. Which is the name the Roman Empire gave to what is now Scotland.

To stick with the fruit salad theme, how about Vanilla? Vanilla extract is more often brown, but I've seen vanilla beans which looked grayish.

If you wanted a Revolution name, maybe Penelope (as it apparently means weaver).

Wow, I've never seen so much nose twitching! Look at her paws, there's so much fur they look enormous! And aren't little bunny licky kisses sweet? Awww. Hmm, let's see, names, names. Since she likes to give kisses, how about the Korean word for a cute little kiss BoBo (the 'b' is a hard tense consonant)?

She's darling! Wonder how big she REALLY is under all that fur. :)

I found this article in a search inspired by your robotic rabbit reference: http://technology.newscientist.com/article/dn13959-strokable-robot-rabbit-talks-with-touch.html

How about going outside the fruit bowl and calling her Hoptic? I'd say Haptic, quoting the article, but I like the "hop" reference better. :)

She hops and she has that continuous sniffing thing going on like a little ticking clock.

Congrats on the new addition to the family!

Any of the names from Watership Down would do. I was going to suggest Clover, but it has already been suggested twice. So how about Strawberry, Hazel, Holly, Bluebell, Cowslip, SilverDandelion, or Blackberry.

If you're not in a Watership Down mood, may I suggest Bunnicula, since she tasted Matt's arm?

  • At 2:17 PM, Blogger Becky said…

Sorry, that should read Silver, Dandelion, not Silverdandelion.

When I heard the first one's name was Blackberry, the first thing that popped into my mind was the electronic Blackberry cellphone thingy. And since you have to shave the new one, I think "Razr" would be fitting.

I can't believe it! I've been thinking about it and just decided that classic was best and came back to propose Flopsy or Mopsy only to see that the last poster beat me to it! Sigh - the story of my life. Back to thinking.
